The two circles are either end of the new 1,500 gallon back-up oil tank. The pieces on the side will be welded at the site to the bottom pieces and places on the concrete slab on the left side of the refurbished tank room.

The new oil tank is lowered into the building's basement in at least 10 pieces (8 side sections and 2 end sections) which are welded together on site.

Chimney liner resting on footing at the bottom of the chimney stack, which went below grade originally to meet the stack used when the boiler used only oil. A "clean out door" at the bottom of the stack. A bracket is installed at the top and bottom of the new chimney liner inside the stack. The liner rests at the bottom of the stack on a footing. On average the contractor can weld and install 20' of liner per day.

The new chimney liner is installed inside the existing chimney. Due to the location of the chimney, the brick side had to be removed first. Another "clean out door" at bottom.

200' high chimney liner

The chimney liner was going to be too close per the building code to the water tower, so it had to be extended above the tower and welded to a bracket, and secured by cables down to the roof. This chimney liner was ultimately 200' high due to the extension required because of its proximity to the water tower and the neighboring building.

Stack must go beyond water tank

The base of the chimney, where installer must start the chimney liner, is behind this structure. The chimney has never been cleaned at this point and is filled with soot.

This building had to have its chimney liner custom made in rectangular sections of 10-gauge stainless steel.

Once we discovered that the base of the chimney was behind a wall, we had to cut open the wall to clean out decades of compressed coal and No. 6 oil soot.
