Valerie Corbett’s bio continued

As Director of Real Estate for a private developer she led the financing effort, including accessing tax credits and government subsidies, for a 185-unit mixed-income, mixed-use property LEED certified building in Manhattan.

Valerie Corbett also served as Senior Vice President of Projects and Programs of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the state benefit authority established after 9/11 to revitalize and rebuild Lower Manhattan, where she oversaw $590 million of new projects.

As Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Edison Schools, Inc., the country’s largest school management company, she managed the capital investment approval process and the company’s $100 million charter school construction loan portfolio; and successfully completed New York City’s uniform land use review process (“ULURP”) to enable the company to build its $125 million headquarters and charter school.

During her career in financial services she was a Partner at Ernst & Young, one of the world’s leading professional services organizations, and served in senior management roles raising capital in the public and private debt markets for corporate clients of the global banks CIBC World Markets, Swiss Bank Corporation and Chase Manhattan Bank.
