Valerie Corbett has been committed to educating people about renewable energy since 1979:

1979: While at Columbia University, to prepare for an educational broadcasting, Valerie Corbett interviewed the tenant-cooperators of 519 East 11th Street in New York’s Lower East Side, a “sweat equity” rehabilitation of an 11-unit, five-story, 10,410 sq. ft. walk-up. Once abandoned, these tenants received the first federally funded solar energy system in an apartment house in New York City. They also installed the first windmill to produce electricity. The flat plate solar collectors for domestic hot water heating were manufactured in Guilford, CT.
